Tajweed: The Art of Qur’anic Recitation

This course combines the essential principles of tajweed with guided, practical recitation. Using Al-Qawl al-Mufid, students will learn the key rules of tajweed, develop correct pronunciation of the Arabic letters, and build the skills needed to apply those rules confidently while reciting the Qur’an.

Tajweed is learned not only through understanding its principles, but through hearing, practicing, and receiving correction. This course balances clear instruction in the most important rules of tajweed with individualized recitation practice.

Students will work on the correct articulation and pronunciation of Qur’anic letters, learn how to apply tajweed principles naturally in recitation, and recite directly to the teacher for feedback and correction. Through consistent practice and personal guidance, students will strengthen their recitation and develop greater accuracy, confidence, and care in reading the Qur’an.

Shaykh Hakeem Atabek Shukurov

Shaykh Atabek Shukurov Nasafi began his religious studies at the tender age of ten. He studied under local scholars such as Shaykh Sayyid Karim Namangany and Shaykh Mohammed Jaan, under whose guidance he began to memorise the Qur’an. In 1998 he resided in the historic city of Damascus where he continued his studies with some of the finest scholars of our time.  He enrolled four year Al-Ijaza Al-Alimiyya programme at the Takhassus Institute which is affiliated toon a Al-Azhar.
